Terms and Conditions
Effective 1 September 2026. These terms govern your use of chavery.in and the Chavery Research Companion application.
These terms are an agreement between you and Nidz&Co, a proprietorship with its registered and operational address at [Street address — to be confirmed], Chennai, Tamil Nadu [PIN — to be confirmed], India (“we”, “us”, “our”), which owns and operates the Chavery brand. By creating an account or buying a licence you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Chavery.
1. What Chavery is
Chavery is software that helps a researcher plan a study, record and validate data, run statistical analyses, produce figures, check their writing against a fixed rule set, manage references and generate a dissertation document.
Chavery is a tool. It is not a co-author, a statistician, a supervisor or an academic authority. It does not perform generative AI and does not write your research for you.
2. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.
- One account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in link or let another person use your account.
- The information you give us must be accurate, and you must keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you believe someone else has access to it.
3. Licences and what you get
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Chavery for your own research, for the term you paid for.
- A Research Project covers one researcher and one research project for twelve months from activation. It does not renew automatically.
- The Advanced Statistics upgrade applies to the single project it was bought for.
- An Institutional licence is a pool of projects for a stated period, allocated by the institution. Individual researchers under it are bound by these terms.
Prices are in Indian Rupees and are stated on the Pricing page. We may change prices, but a change never affects a licence you have already bought.
4. What you must not do
- Resell, sublicense, rent or provide Chavery as a service to others.
- Copy, decompile, reverse-engineer or attempt to derive our source code, algorithms or rule sets.
- Use Chavery to fabricate or falsify research data or results.
- Upload material that infringes copyright, or that you have no right to upload.
- Enter direct personal identifiers of research participants — see the Privacy Policy.
- Attempt to gain access to another user’s account or project, or to probe, scan or overload our systems.
- Use automated means to extract data from the service beyond your own.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. Where we can do so safely, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.
5. Who owns what
5.1 Your research
You own your research. Your research question, data, analyses, written text, figures and the documents you generate remain entirely yours. We claim no ownership, no licence to publish, and no right to use your research for any purpose other than providing the service to you.
5.2 Our software
We own Chavery — the software, its statistical engine, its decision tree, its rule sets, its document templates, its name and its branding. Nothing in these terms transfers any of that to you.
6. Academic responsibility
This section matters more than any other, so it is stated plainly.
- The research is yours and so is the responsibility for it. You are responsible for your study design, your ethical approval, your data, your interpretation and your conclusions.
- Check what the software tells you. Chavery recommends a statistical test from the data and assumptions you gave it. A recommendation is not a substitute for your own judgement or your supervisor’s.
- Chavery does not guarantee academic outcomes. We do not promise that your dissertation will be accepted, that your paper will be published, or that your university will approve any formatting we produce. University requirements vary and change.
- You must follow your institution’s rules. Using any software must be consistent with your university’s regulations on academic integrity and on the assistance permitted in preparing a dissertation.
7. Availability
We aim to keep Chavery available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may suspend it for maintenance, and will give notice where we can. We are not liable for interruptions caused by your internet connection, your device, or a third party we depend on.
8. Payment
Payments are processed by Razorpay. By paying you also accept Razorpay’s terms. We do not receive or store your card, UPI or net-banking credentials. Your licence activates when Razorpay confirms the payment to our systems directly, which is why activation can occasionally take a few minutes after your browser reports success.
Refunds are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
9. Warranties and liability
Chavery is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law we exclude all implied warranties, including of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which are unaffected by these terms.
Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with Chavery is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of academic opportunity, examination outcomes, or indirect or consequential loss.
Keep your own copies. We take backups, but you should keep your own copy of your data and of every document you generate. We are not liable for loss of data you have not separately kept.
10. Ending the agreement
- You may close your account at any time by writing to support@chavery.in.
- Closing your account does not by itself entitle you to a refund; see the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- Export your work before you close your account. After the 90-day recovery period described in the Privacy Policy, your research data is deleted and cannot be recovered.
- We may terminate for a material breach of these terms, or if required by law.
11. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The current version is always on this page with its effective date. Where a change materially affects your rights we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect; continuing to use Chavery after that means you accept the change.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction, save that nothing prevents a consumer from bringing proceedings where the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 permits.
Please write to us first. Most disputes are settled faster by email than by anything else.
13. General
- If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- Not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive our right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the business is sold, on notice to you.
- These terms, with the Privacy, Refund and Delivery policies, are the whole agreement between us.
